So as of yesterday, I decided that my wife and I have irreconcilable differences. I would never want to have children with her, and becoming a father is the only reason I wanted to be married. So given that, it makes sense for us to divorce. Unfortunately, right now, it's not financially beneficial for us to do so (we just a bought a new house, furniture etc). It seems to me that if we wait 5 years, we will be almost debt free, and still within the no-alimony window. I can live with her for that time, but the love will be pretty much empty. And it is possible that given that much time she may change for the better.
Should I tell her this is what I'm thinking about? Is it worth letting her know that the divorce bomb click is ticking (slowly) down? Or should I just soldier on until the paper's arrive in 2018...
