Do I Stay or Do I Go?
      #802055 - 04/11/13 10:26 PM

My wife and I have been married for twenty six years and we have three children under twenty three. My biggest issue is my wife never wants to make love without me having to almost beg for it. I treat her well do more than my fair share and take care if myself. She says that ever since the menopause she does not have the desire . We have gone to counseling but nothing has worked. I truly love her but I also want to feel loved and don't know the answer. Do I stay or go?

Maybe she would be willing to see her OB-GYN? Hormones might help. I guess you have to decide what is important to you. First ask yourself if something happened and the roles were reversed, how would you feel about her wanting to leave you? Second ask yourself how often as a single man you think you are going to have sex? It's not easy being single out there these days. It's hard to trust that the person you're planning to be with doesn't have something that could kill you.

No one can tell you to stay or go but just consider that the grass isn't always greener. I kind of have the same issue in reverse. An SO who really has little to no interest in sex. It drives me nuts but I also know that being single isn't going to make it better.

When we were together, you said you'd die for me. Now, I think it's time you kept your promise.

If you still really love her, I think you should keep trying.

What was said or accomplished with therapy ? Why aren't you still going ? Not saying you have to answer that here, just that you should think of these issues. Is she trying to be more receptive ? Or does she think this is just the new status quo and you need to deal with it and not expect any change ? Is she sorry she's not more in the mood ? Has she talked to her doctor(s) about this ?
