After long serious issues I have to end my marriage. It is absolutely essential to maintain my mental health. Even though I have to initiate this I feel I am the one given no choice. I had given my spouse more than a decade to work on her serious issues and any small progress she has made has been too little too late for the serious emotional damage I have sustained. But now all I experience are serious panic attacks especially thinking that I am absolutely all alone. Being married any friends I had made were purely incidental compared to the importance I placed on the relationship with my spouse. Maybe I won't be physically alone, but people in my life who had been on the sidelines are now the people I am supposed to be important and I just don't see how that is at all possible. I don't see how I am going to make it through this if I can't even make it through today...

I feel the same way. I have terrible anxiety going through this divorce. I'm surprised at myself because I have been through other difficult life events, but don't have the strength for this. I do have friends that promise me it's better on the other side. I too, how dealt with emotional and verbal abuse from my spouse. I have to believe there has to be something better than dealing with that. You will develop new friendships. Maybe someone else going through this...there are certainly plenty of us out there. I can totally relate to thinking you cannot get through the day. Try to develop a support system. I have friends and family that I have to call (no one lives local) and bawl my eyes out. I even hired a divorce coach which has helped me stand on my own two legs and do what I need to do to get out of this. i also started forcing myself to go out in the morning for a walk/jog. On the days I do, it makes my day tremendously better. I hope you can try some of these ideas and that they help. I totally understand.
