My wife and I are divorcing after 2 years in California. She is 68, I am 47, no children. She was unemployed when I met her and for sure she will not be employed after our divorce.
I am earning average wages, basically making ends meet. Could she claim alimony?
I appreciate your advice

She can claim anything she wants, doesn't mean that she will get it. For a 2 year marriage, it is extremely doubtful that she will get alimony.
The fact that she is retired is irrelevant. It's the length of the marriage that matters.

I disagree. Not even in California will a 2 year marriage get alimony. Now if they were married 10 years the answer would be different. There are no kids and she was retired (she can collect full SS benefits at 65, she's 68) when they married, that hasn't changed.

"Not even in California will a 2 year marriage get alimony."
Could you post a link to the LAW that states this (Like in Texas, there is SPECIFIC laws that govern this. I didn't think such laws existed in California, but you are obviously aware of laws I am not).
