anyway to protect child when courts fail
      #66962 - 01/18/06 10:44 PM

When courts err (or are bought off) and give unsupervised visits to abusive parent, is there any other place the other parent can turn for help to protect the child, Like any state to move to where that state has juridiction over the matter? Any group one can turn to?

I'm so sorry you are having this problem. I myself will be dealing with this issue soon. I hope someone has a good response. Email me if you get one. What I have learned is to use a therapist as your best friend. After every visit with daddy have a visit with the therapist. You need record of anything that might be out of the ordinary. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. Good Luck

The father sent a cease and desist letter to the therapist and the judge said the child cannot go to therapy without wriotten consent from both parents, You figure corrupt system.

Of course it depends on what you mean by an abusive parent.

I have known people to claim that anyone they can't control is abusive.

I have known courts to allow an abusive parent to continue to be involved in the childs life, because that is the best that the child has going for themselves.

IMHO someone not agreeing to therapy is not abuse.

Sounds like the abusive parent doesn't want the child to be able to tell the therapist anything. Sounds like a typical abuser to me.
