Post-divorce communication study
      #115844 - 06/07/06 05:46 PM

Hello everyone,

My name is Aimee and I am a Ph.D. student in Interpersonal and Family Communication, currently working on my dissertation. For my dissertation research, I am studying how former spouses who raise their children together communicate with each other, specifically about their dating lives following the divorce. There is such little research on how former spouses talk about dating, that I want to be able to contribute new insight into what has been done, hopefully to help people who are in the same positions as yourselves. Since you are on this site talking about your divorce and/or dating after the divorce, I was wondering if you would be interested in being interviewed by me. I can do telephone interviews with anyone interested. The interviews will take about 1-1 1/2 hours. To participate, you must meet the following criteria:

· Be at least 19 years old,

· Be legally divorced for at least two years,

· Have at least casually dated another person since your divorce (you may also be remarried but you do not need to be remarried or in a serious dating relationship to participate), and

· Have at least one child with your former spouse AND both you and your former spouse must have at least weekly contact with your child/children through face-to-face or some other form of communication

If both you and your former spouse are willing to participant, I will interview you both separately and will not share any information about your interview with your former spouse. However, your former spouse does not need to participate in order for you to participate. If you know anyone else who might be interested in participating, please pass along this information. If you choose to participate, your interview will be kept confidential and completely anonymous. I always use pseudonyms to protect the confidentiality of my participants. If you are willing to participate, or know someone who is interested, please post a response here or email me at aimers78@hotmail.com. Thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate your help.

You are under no obligation to participate in my study. You are not obligated to provide any personal information to me off the bat. But if anyone is at least interested in talking to me about your experiences, to help me with my research and help me figure out how former spouses talk after their divorce, please feel free to contact me and I will let you know what type of information I would like you to share with me. I am a student working on my PhD and the study I am conducting is 100% legitimate. I thought perhaps announcing my study on a forum for divorced individuals would elicit some interest and some participants. Thank you for advance for reading about my study.

I can provide some insight into how dating and a s/o affects parenting issues. E-mail mbeaulier@hjlawfirm.com

That is not really what you asked, but I may be able to assist.
