I live in missoouri and before I got married my mother passed away and left me some money. after I got married my husband was in a custody battle with his x. i gave him allot of money to pay off the lawyer. he said he would"make things right". and I also paid off a loan to his father and a credit card. do I get that money back?

Because you commingled assets (money) with him.
Without some sort of agreement (on paper), it would be very difficult to convince anybody that you expected the funds to be repaid to you. Essentially, you gave him a "gift." At least, that's how most courts would see it.
However, you could still try to convince a judge that you both agreed the money would be repaid. Just don't count on it making a difference.
Sorry... that's the wonderful world of divorce.

Ditto what Lucy said, and the odds of you wanting the money back if you were still happily married is about nil...

Chances are good that the answer is "no." While an inheritance may be non-marital, when it is commingled and cannot be traced into a specific identifiable asset, it is gone.
