Sorry for the off topic, but I'm major league fuming right now. My divorce was finalized last winter. Last November I re-fi my vehicle to get x's name off of it and was told by the dealer what my credit score was. Went today to apply for an equity line and the score dropped. ALOT. It appears that I have an outstanding bill from x showing on my report, and two doctors that I had payment arrangements with and was ASSURED by them they would work with me, reported me anyways. I made my payments, they knew I was going thru the divorce and they STILL frickin did it to me anyways. Now I get to jump thru hoops trying to get this mess straight and am not sure there's anything I can do.
I always paid up when I visited the office and they were only billing me for lab work - its not like I was being a d*mn deadbeat. I will never understand why businesses say one thing and do another. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
...now where the heck is my hagen daaz at......

Divorce plays havoc on your credit, and there's no two ways about it. I thought I had covered everything with my ex, and eight years later I found out he didn't comply with our agreement. Now I have a serious blemish on my, otherwise, excellent report. I'd never have known about it if I hadn't applied for a loan for my son's college tuition last Fall. When the loan was denied, I was furious 1) because I knew my ex did not have HIS share of the tuition and I was actually relying on the loan to pay for his half, and 2) the company never contacted me when he defaulted, even though I was a co-signer...they just reported us BOTH in default.
Write explanatory letters to all credit reporting companies and ask that they be kept in your file, so that meliorating circumstances can be considered in the future. That's about the best you can do.
