After I find out how much I owe the X in arrears, I wanted to just start paying a little more towards the arrears bi-wkly cause I got a raise and I wanted to finish it this year.. So my question is do I have to go to court for it or when I sent the money to the state should I just send extra..

Is your child support court ordered? Meaning do you pay the court or did your ex go thru like DSS or some other government body?

She tried going to the public aid but I ended up just filing threw the courts. So its threw the court ordered..
I send the money to the state every two wks.. One check for child support, then $20 for arrears because thats what the court ordered. But now that Im making more money I want to send more towards arrears//

I think I would talk to CSE and see what they reccommend. I'd avoid getting it changed in court because if something would happen that you all of a sudden couldn't pay the extra you wouldn't have to worry about going back to paying the CO on the arrears. Does that make sense?

Yes that does make sense. I dont want to go to court anyway because they what they'll do is increase Child support then Ill never catch up!

I'm sure you could send in more than your $20 you currently are a week since it is going to a seperate place mainly for arreages but I would call your local court house where you pay your C/S to just really let them know that you are willing & capable of paying more so that you can get that arreage caught up & they don't send it back to you thinking you've over paid. It shouldn't be that difficult just call the office & tell them what you want to know

I send my child support to the state disbursment unit too. Back when I had an arrearage, if I sent in extra money for it, I would just include a note that the extra money is to go towards my arrearage & that's what they did. It was never a problem. But I called & asked about it first & the State Disbursment Unit told me to ALWAYS include the note.

Just pay the extra and keep track. When you are close to being caught up, you will need to notify the courts to get the order changed since you are self-pay. If you were being garnished, you would just notify CSE.
