Ongoing knee issue-OT

*sigh*

Well the Dr. is hesitant to do surgery at this point. He isn't exactly sure what is causing my knee pain. I guess the meniscus tears are minimal. He isn't sure that is the source of the pain and he doesn't want to go in until he knows he can fix things. He mentioned something called RSD as an outside possibility, but I looked that up and it doesn't seem to fit my symptoms.

*deep sigh* Sooooo he has stopped physical therapy and taken me off the crutches. He wants me to do very light activities (mainly swimming) and see him in a few weeks.

Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated. I was really hoping to be up and at it early Aug. I will need to get my classroom ready, etc. School starts early this year...Aug. 22nd. If I don't like what this Dr. has to say at my Appt. the 14th, then I think I might get a second opinion. I know the knee is a complex area...my physical therapist said that MRI's don't always show everything...

To my nursing friends...are there are other tests I should be asking the Dr. to perform that may give more information about my knee?? I really appreciate your help guys!! ((HUGS))

I hope they do something for you soon! I can sympathize with knee pain and it's no fun. My right one locks up from time to time Mostly with a big change in weather. (usually from warm to very cold.) In the summer I have to make sure it's covered good at night or the air conditioner plays heck with it! Hope it all goes well for you sorry I don't have any advice.

I wish I could give you some direction. I can barely remember much of what I learned in school. Once you pick a "specialty", everything that's not used is tossed out of the brain.
