I need some info on removeing my ex-wife's name from the deed. The mortgage is (and has always been) in my name only. I used a refi to pay her what we agreed in mediation, now the divorce is final and i want to tie up any loose ends. i am hoping to avoid having to get another lawyer to do this.

You need to have her sign a "Quit Claim" to remove her from the Deed. Your lawyer should have taken care of that when you paid her the equity she was entitled to. If the two of you are on speaking terms it will be easy to get it done and doesn't require a lawyer to do. Your court house may have copies of the quit claim and you just have her sign it in front of a notary if they don't have them at your courthouse you should be able to find one on-line. Once she signs it you just take it to the court house and you will have to pay a fee and they will take care of your deed.

I just wanted to add that when she signs it it will need to be notarized. And you are welcome.
