Will they split 2007 refund between stbx and I??
      #355333 - 02/01/08 11:08 PM

I filed for divorce in December. We have all the tax forms ready to send to our accountant. I am a stay-at-home mom. We claim my 13 yr old and our 3 kids on the tax forms. Will they split the refund between my STBX and I?? How does that work??? I have a lawyer but was just looking for some opinions before Monday when I can call him. Thanks

If you e-file you can have money go into separate accounts. You could have half go into each account.

I would refuse to sign the return until you ensure that a portion of the refund is going into your personal bank account. The CPA is not supposed to send the return (e-file) until they receive the Form 8879 (authorization to e-file) from y'all, signed by BOTH.

My CPA sent a joint return (e-file) knowing I signed the form 8879 (authorization to e-file), I signed my name and the ex wifes name.

Her lawyer doesnt want to get involved with this.

What happens to the CPA who sent it in anyway knowing one spouse signed BOTH names?

Well, since no one wanted to answer,,,,

NOTHING happens to the CPA nor I because its fraud and no one wants to get involved with the IRS...so I get away with it! Ha!
