I got the "turn down" email from the HR Dept. of the company I interviewed with last week. Apparently they went with an internal candidate with more experience. Or so they've said.

I am bummed. Severely...I really felt that position fit me like a glove. I'm trying not to take it personally. It does make sense that a company would hire from within rather than take a chance on an outside candidate. But, its a disappointment, no less.

I feel like I should just take a little break from sending out my resume. The rejection is starting to get to me. Maybe I need to focus in a different derection all together and start "investing" in online courses. I don't really have any clear direction though, and I definitely don't have any money, coming off one of the worst months of my career.

Maybe I need to just put one of my kidneys on eBay.

Don't take it personal. My employer has KNOWN before the job was even advertised who was going to end up getting hired for it, but because of industry rules, we had to advertise it. So, 3 or 4 people came in and interviewed for a job when 99% of our staff knew we would be hire from within.

I'm really trying not to. What's worse? In the interview, I found out the job was FAR better than what was in the ad, too. Company car, gass allowance, work from home, laptop....after the interview, I almost felt like it was too good for ME.

Tempting....

I wouldn't miss a kidney. I think that might be a better option.

It seems silly sometimes. We do the same here although we have no requirement to post externally. Often times a position will open up and the manager knows exactly who they're going to hire but they have to go through the motions of posting the position and interviewing everyone who applies only to give it to the person they had slotted for it in the first place. The only good thing for the people that applied is it will identify who is looking to get ahead and although they don't get the initial position they applied for management becomes aware of their interest in advancing.

The rejection is starting to eat at me. Its made me come to thr realization that with a HS diploma, this? is probably the best I'm gonna do. Period. I was riding the gravy train while the economy was good, but the ride has stopped. The reality is I was making more money than I probably deserved back when business was booming.
