I just got my cell phone bill and there was a $1.00 "911 service" fee because I called 911 twice last month from my cell phone. Are people really being charged .50 per 911 call? That is insane...

I know, previous to that I have only called it once back in 1998 when I lived in Tucson.
Both calls were for grass fires on the highway. We are in a severe drought here so when idiots throw cigs out the car windows it starts fires.

Hmmmm...I didn't know that. I live just off of a dangerous intersection where they have accidents all.the.time....at least 1x month. I'm generally the first to see / hear it and call 911...I'm like "me again, nuther accident". I'll have to check my cell next time. With the economy being the way it is, I can see people standing at the seen of a crime/accident/whatever saying "you call" "no you call" because no one will want to spend the 50 cents.

I have several fire fighter friends and they HATE fighting grass fires. Hate. They stink to high heaven, for some reason. LOL!
Anyway, I think I called 911 twice in two years.

We pay a monthly fee to have 911 service available. I don't believe they charge you per call unless of course you call inappropriately and then it's a big a$$ fine.
