My x called. Sm, their child, and the suitcases are gone again.

Whoa. How many times has she left him? I might suggest to him the big "D" word. This can't be good for their kid. Sad, really. What do your kids think about it?

My ds hates his sm. She is mean and belittling to him and she deliberatly interferes w/ his time w/ his dad.
It doesnt effect him one bit. In fact, tomorrow night, ds and I are going to x's town for a bbq at x's house and then ds gets to stay for a few nights.
This is the 4th time in 1 month that I know about. My x is a schmuck and a moron, but he loves his kids. It must be killing him for her to keep disappearing w/ their child like this!!
The locks are actually the reason he called though. He is on call for work and can't leave his town. There are no hardware stores in his town. He asked me to go to the hardware store here, pick him up all new locks, and bring them over tomoorow.. which is the real reason for the bbq.

I'm sorry that the SM is mean to your son. That really bites. I wish some women could be more mature about the DH's children from PM's. I really can't understand why some feel they can get away with damaging a child's psyche. Ugh.
Anyway, hope everything goes well at the BBQ.

yah that does stink that she is rude to your child....it sucks when steps can't look past the bio and just love a child for who they are.....my SS is wonderful, and i couldn't imagine being mean to him.
i'm sure he doesn't always like the discipline, but it's not mean to discipline a child.

No kidding...they may think it is mean in that moment, but in the long run it is in their best interest. And at least they know someone cares:)

------------------Nice of you to help him out. Shows compassion. In a moment of weakness when my ex was having drama with his last wife, I helped him out (a lot!), even though he was such a mo-fo during our marriage and after to our daughter...I STILL helped him because I felt sorry for him. Then...THEN he got the whole wrong idea and thought "well, maybe we can get back together" What? Um, no. He was angry. Can you believe that? I helped him and because HE got the wrong idea, he got angry and never asked for one more second of help. It was a big "whatever" moment for me. I haven't talked to him since. I think that was back in spring 2005. I think it's nice that you're helping your ex out.
As for her leaving again, your ex needs to go to the court, file for a custody hearing. Even if he doesn't want full custody, he needs to get something on record so he will be entitled to have time with his daughter with a stable schedule for her.
