1. My STBX is now recognizing that I truly am proceeding with our divorce (always have been, but that's besides the point). Since we had a separation date of July 2007 somewhere in our beginning paperwork, he says I now owe him for 1/2 the mortgage payments from then on. But we never had any agreement in writing about this.. Is he correct? 2. I have also been pushing him to sell the house as he was laid off 2 months ago. He went against my wishes and began working on improving the house for sale - to get more $$(he never finishes any house project). My lawyer even sent his lawyer a letter saying I want is sold "as is". Am I financially responsible for half of those expenses??

Typical divorces split the assets and split the debts. He can ask for your half of the payments to be deducted out of any settlement you might be entitled to. Whether or not he gets it will depend on other financial aspects of your divorce, state law, and whether the judge fell out of bed that morning.
