What to do with Lawyer?
      #634936 - 02/19/10 10:01 AM

Hello, this is my issue. I am in wisconsin. I have agreed to the terms that my soon to be x has demanded except paying cs and maintence. She said she wants one or the other. The problem i have is that it seems that my lawyer is working for both sides or more for her. We have our second court date this coming tuesday and lawyer is trying to get her to agree but keeps coming to me saying maybe i should add another $500 to the already $1500 that i am giving her in cash. he said maybe that would convience her. Then he comes to me saying that i should pay this up front. when i dont have any money to pay. I need it to be in payments since i dont get alot of hours and was left with the mortgage and electric bill and other bills. To me he sounds like he is working for her. I have told him several times that I want a temprary hearing for contempt because she was ordered to apply for twenty jobs a month in regards to receiving cs (we share 50/50 placement)and she has not done that and he still wont do that. I told him yesterday that if she wont agree then just set a trial date and a temporary hearing for the cs. He told me that if we go to trial that i would need to pay him in full. what can i do? to me he doesnt care and just wants money. Should I fire him and go to the trial without an lawyer like my x is? Please help i am ready to go crazy.

I would suggest consulting with other lawyers. It is a difficult situation and without knowing facts or what your attorney is basing the advice on, it is difficult to assess

I sure thing your lawyer is working for her. You can try to see different lawyers here

Never use an internet list of names to choose you lawyer. THat is particularly true when the purpose is to increase traffic.

Your attorney is NOT working for your spouse. They may simply not be as agressive as they should.
