My wife and I filed for no-fault divorce in WA on 4/6/10, and are currently in the 90 day waiting period. We've been married since August 2007. We have no children together but she has two daughters from a prior marriage.
My wife is planning on applying for state aid (Medical coverage for the kids after the divorce is final, housing assistance so she can move out, etc).
She wants no money from me and expects no spousal support (and this is written in the divorce paperwork), but can the state come in and force spousal support of some kind if she applies for state aid prior to the date of the divorce being final?
Are we better off just waiting for the final decree to keep the state's nose out of the divorce where both of us don't want it? We both just want to go our separate ways in peace.
Thank you!

Yes, but you still might be responsible afterwards. You never know what the state will do

You've only been married for 3 years. I haven't found any documentation that shows where that is worthy of maintenance.
