Hi, I'm new here. My husband and I just started through separation. I expected to get alimony. Married 18 years. I have some health issues. I moved out. I left all the contents of the house because I moved in with my sister and no room to put anything. I live in DE. Here's the kicker - my husband just found out he has no job. Last year made $100,000. Now what? I get nothing?

It is kind of hard to force someone with no money to pay anything, isn't it? Are you working? Will your husband ask you for alimony now that he is unemployed?

I work part time, and don't make enough for myself, let alone alimony for him. I have had cervical spine surgery twice. Not even sure I can work full time.

He he been laid off yet, or was he told the lay offs are coming? Might be best to put the divorce on hold until he finds another job.

LOL- What's to stop him (and he would if he had 1/2 a brain) from going forward with it himself, based on abandonment, if her state is a fault state.

You might be able to get support from other savings and how long would you expect him to be unemployed??? An excellent resource for self-represented people is centenniallawoffices.com/Pro%20Per.html You can get your legal issues researched and answers provided quickly. Good luck.
