Hi,
My left on July 2nd after 33 years of marriage. I'm 59 years old. I hated the last 5 years of being married and she was very unhappy being married to me. She finally was the one that got the nerve to leave. She is living with my oldest daughter until after our divorce when she can buy a condominium. We are having a no-fault divorce and have already decided what each other gets. We had our first appointment with a mediator and he asked “what do you need me for”? That day in July when my said she was leaving I was so happy. I am on social security disability and I am keeping the house. Now the loneliness is setting in. I lost touch with my friends a while ago after the company we worked for shut down. They all moved away. The worst time is at night. I would kill just to have someone come over and watch TV with me. The loneliness is just awful. I don't want to join a divorce group because I'm afraid I would try to jump into a relationship too soon if there was someone there that showed an interest in me. This feels worse than my marriage. My wife and I have no intention of getting back together.

Why don't you find a club on a subject you are interested in. I think you need to make sure you are getting out and involved in your community. New friendships will start eventually and this will help alleviate your loneliness. Try volunteering as I know people who have made friendships that way as well.

I know. I know my cousin Bob meets every mornings at Honey Dew donuts every morning to shoot the [censored]. I am thinking about easing my way in. I am thinking about getting a kitten. I hear they taste great fried. Only kidding.
