Given that women who marry for love stay married and women who marry for money "cash out" it's clear that alimony is nothing less than state enforced welfare for sophisticated prostitutes. The difference is prostitutes are much more honest than whoring wives because they never claim to love you and don't try to collect additional funds years after services were provided.

Women who marry for love stay married after their husbands have affairs/beat them/do drugs/announce they are gay/pick any other reason why a man would no longer be considered a good husband ?
Say whatever you want about anyone who married for money, but don't assume that everyone who gets divorced and asks for SS did not marry for love/

The trick is, never marry a woman who makes significantly less than you and never ever agree to her staying home as there is no upside.

Bingo! This would have never occurred to me as a younger man, but nowadays I have to determine how much a potential wife earns. Another support order or alimony would guarantee my retirement day is my death.

Things change... the woman who pulls 6 figures today can get ill and become unable to work... there are no guarantees that you would still not be in a position of paying ss. Why not look for a potential wife who shares your values, who has honor and integrity. I would think choosing such qualities would vastly improve your odds, not just in the event of a divorce, but for your marriage.
As a disclaimer... I am not implying that all women asking for ss lack values, honor, or integrity... I believe ss can be valid under some circumstances.

I fully agree. I'm just saying that if the person has not worked in the past, it's a deal breaker from the first date. I won't set myself up for financial failure.
