Is this considered as marriage property?

My husband has had very valuable Chinese water paints and some antiques which are given from his mother after we merried 14 yrs ago and they stay in our house since then. As we are on the virge of divorcing, we need to make some decisions on our merital property how we split.I am pretty much sure if I claim that they are also my property, he will be real upset. Can I say that I want half of them as merital property in a settlement?

Why bother? That's just making it about the money and not the actual item -- if the item meant something to you, I'd suggest asking him for it --

My mother passed in 2004 and I received a great many valuable things and there's no way on God's green EARTH that anyone would get either the item or the value from me.

That's a hill I'd die on. And there aren't that many hills I CHOOSE to die on.

They were a gift, to him.

Was marital money used to insure them ?

I'm thinking that even if marital money was used to insure them, it isn't going to matter --

Heck, take that out to the nth degree -- that's scary.
