Cohabitation and military retirement pay to ex

Can an ex-spouse who is receiving post-divorce a portion of the retiree's retirement pay opt for cohabitation instead of remarriage and still collect retirement pay?

I know of a woman who has been living with a man for three years while collecting a portion of her ex-husband's retirement pay.

Aren't there rules on this?

Unless it specifically says so in their divorce decree - remarriage does not keep someone from collecting an ex-spouses military retirement.

Military retirement is part of property division and nothing more. The court decided that was her portion of the property. Does not matter what she does with it or with who.
