Dear All,
I am sending this to all of you to ask that you pay it some serious attention, and get your writing hands active on the unfolding events in the UK, demonstrations, top national news stories and concrete policy proposals from mainstream political parties specifically in favour of equal parental rights - for the first time ever. Please use me as a source to point you to relevant articles and facts, if you wish.
Given the parlous state of family law in the UK today, this breaking news is historic. Where it leads is partly down to us. There is a very clear demand for family rights, equal rights to both parents, being articulated by Michael Howard, as the result of direct action from Fathers-4-Justice - and our arguments - used by F4J.
Please could you cc any articles to me and I will post them on the euro-dads@yahoogroups.com forum, which you are also welcome to join and post directly to, or view at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/euro-dads/ (open access). The Fathers-4-Justice main sites do not appear to have been updated for some weeks now.

Matt O'Connor has been on the main BBC "opinion formers" news bulletin, at 1pm BST today, after participating in the assault on the assembled Synod in York Minster yesterday. He got the message absolutely right this time, and it is a demand for equal rights in law.
I was unable to attend the Tory family summit in progress today as I write, although invited. It is difficult to judge exactly how far their policy proposals will reach, what is certain is that extraparliamentary pressure must be maintained, irrespective - it is apparently the only thing that works in this country on such issues. The most burning issue, soon, will be that of children and parents already estranged from each other, due to previous human rights violations by the court system, under both Tory and Labour governments.

Tories Back Fathers' Rights
July 12, 2004
British Tory leader Michael Howard is to call for a change in the law which would give parents equal access to their children when relationships break down, according to the BBC. At a summit on custody battles today, Howard is expected to say that "the best parent is both parents," a familiar phrase coined as the title of a book by Children's Rights Council President David Levy.
