You'll be out of it for a while, and loopy - but relax! You will do just fine:).

You will go out and never even know that you are "out" unlike fainting. When you wake up, most likely someone will be calling your name to help you wake up. You may even drift back off again for a bit. They most likely will offer a nice warm blanket (take it - it feels so wonderful). They will keep you for about 2 hours and then send you home.
You may have some cramping after the D&C - in my case, the cramping was less than the cramping I was having before the D&C.
I went home and slept some more than was up and about. Had to take it easy but was not bed ridden. The next day, I was fine.

Everyone is different. My mom used to wake up crying after surgery. When I was in the recovery room in January (my first time being put out) there was one man who came out of it pretty combative, I woke up and felt as if i were in a cloud drifting in and out a little but pretty much ok.
They give you something to relax you before putting you out. I remember the nurse anestist telling me it wouldn't put me out unless I was a light weight. I am a light weight. I never saw the inside of the OR. lol

I am very combative when I wake up from surgery but when I had my last open-heart surgery I was kept out for two days and then slowly woken up with less meds so I wasn't combative - my mother much appreciated the less combative me - I guess I kinda freaked her out one time when it took six men to hold me down so I wouldn't injure myself.
You'll do fine and they give a nice little lala drift off to where you don't care about anything and you will wake up a little groggy and maybe drift for a bit but todays anesthetics are much better and you no longer have the groggy feeling that lasts for days.
The only inside of the OR I ever saw (was still awake to see) was when I was having the open-heart surgery and I really wish I hadn't seen that - sooooooo many instruments and it was sooooo cold in there and then to lower my body temp they put these freezing cold things on each butt cheek lol!!!
Prayers and speedy recovery =)

Nobody told me that they would be putting drops in my eyes (to keep them from drying out) and that my eyesight would be blurry when I woke up. Needless to say...I kind of panic'd a bit.

For me it was like waking up from a deep sleep.
