OT-Trayyvon Martin case...
      #781876 - 04/07/12 11:01 AM

Lets get away from the troll crap. What are your thoughts on this?

One thing I find interesting, the shooter, Zimmerman, is half white, half Latino (interestingly enough, my spell checker forced me to capitalize Latino but not white). And it is being REPORTED that he is half white, half Latino (although the original reports had him as white). Yet Obama is BLACK...just an interesting duality.

My feelings, the guy had grass stains on his back, a gash across the back of his head, thus indicating he was hit from behind and laying on the ground on his back at some point BEFORE the shooting.

I'll admit...I'm not following this case as I probably should be (just in the interest of being informed)...

So it is obvious that something happened to the man prior to his discharging his weapon..? Has it ever been questioned whether there was anyone else in the area?

AGain...sorry...haven't been following this since the "million hoodie march" and since JJackson and Sharpton have become involved...

I was listening to this on a talk radio show. THey were discussing the 911 call that Zimmerman placed. If you listen to parts of the call, it soulnds like he is discriminatory. If you listen to the entire call, you hear him calling in and the dispatcher asking probing questions about what he looks like.

Zimmerman was STUPID for taking a gun on a Neighborhood watch patrol.

I wish I could have a clear picture on this. At least a clear opinion. I think this one is one I will have to watch closely and not be easily swayed by either side.

I do wish Jackson and Sharpton hadn't gotten involved. They mess things up sometimes for both sides since they are basically just there for the attention.

You have one guy playing toy cop and being told not to do anything by the cops in the call. The other is a kid who may/may not have being doing sh1t.

I think this situation is FUBAR.

I was reading an article yesterday about how a poll showed how much our country is still racially divided. While I disagreed with some the alluded conclusions, I do have to agree. And our country will continue to be divided so long as minority groups continue to demand special consideration along with their "equality". It will continue so long as people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Spike Lee are allowed to scream "racism" every time there is a "white on black" issue, but are never to be found when it's "black on white".

This ONLY became an issue because Zimmerman was thought to be a "white man". Even after finding out that he was Hispanic...the racism bandwagon was rolling downhill too fast to stop regardless of the spin:

"he 'identifies' as Hispanic"
"his father is white"
"he's a 'white Hispanic'"

I don't think Zimmerman was a 'vigilante', but given the criminal history of the neighborhood (eight burglaries, nine thefts in the previous year)...I think he had cause for concern seeing an unknown person in his neighborhood.

I think Martin was being a typical male 17-year kid...meaning that he had an attitude. And when his presence in the neighborhood was questioned, he probably copped an even bigger attitude.

Put this together and I think BOTH parties felt threatened and a physical altercation resulted....and because someone had a gun, someone died.

Mind you...I am supporter of the 2nd Amendment and a card-carrying member of the NRA, but I don't support the use of 'excessive force'.

For me...whether Zimmerman should be charged and/or what he should be charged with is dependent on when and where he shot Martin. Unfortunately, there has been so much media bias, contradictory witness statements and lack of details, it's difficult to discern.

I agree that he had "cause for concern," but I'm confused about something: Zimmerman said he walked back to his vehicle when he lost sight of Treyvon and that Treyvon followed him, starting trouble. But Treyvon was shot, not on the street, but at the back of the apartment buildings. Seems to me Zimmerman is the aggressor. I hope Treyvon fought back.

Zimmerman said he walked back to his vehicle when he lost sight of Treyvon and that Treyvon followed him, starting trouble. But Treyvon was shot, not on the street, but at the back of the apartment buildings.

---> And I totally understand your confusion...Zimmerman's account of the alleged account included Martin slamming his head into the sidewalk. It would logically conclude that his statement that he was 'returning/walking back to his vehicle' was that he was AT his vehicle when the alleged attack occurred...until you look at an aerial view and see that there are two rows of three buildings back-to-back and that in between them...there is a sidewalk that runs the length.

---> Two thing I don't get: 1) from the description by Zimmerman to 911 on the direction that Martin was running and where Zimmerman lost sight of him...why did Martin 'double-back'? The location where Martin 'ducked' between two buildings is almost in the middle to where his father's fiance lived and where Martin died. It would make more sense to continue to a place of safety, then to go after the person who is following you. 2) what was Zimmerman doing behind the buildings? Looking at the map, it would make more sense to stay on the road because Martin had options. But then again, looking down the street and not seeing the kid, he might have thought Martin had already crossed the street and ducked between the other buildings and so it would be logical to take the sidewalk that goes from where his vehicle was parked to where it connects to the sidewalk behind the buildings.

even more logical----> when the police told him not to pursue, he sould have put his car in drive and went home. He failed to follow police orders. Isn't there something on the 911 tape about "I'm so sick of the Ni----s getting away with this?"
