Interesting case...

On one hand, I am pleasantly surprised that she was ordered to pay.

Shocked that she was not charged with any crime. A 0.2 BAC hours AFTER she found her baby dead??? I can't imagine how drunk she had to be as he lay dying.

Given that LSL is a fairly affluent community and she earns 13k a year - I hope this mitigates whatever he had to pay her in the divorce.

But like the article says, there are NO laws against being a drunk parent, in your own home.

Not sure why a 42 year old alky would have a baby to BEGIN with... can't fix stupid :(

Its not so much the getting drunk thing as that the medical examiner basically proved she flat-out lied and her dangerous behavior. She claimed she put the child on his back AND he was still on his back when she found him. Medical examiner unequivocally stated he was face down for at least 2 hours after death.

And - if I lay my kid say - on a window ledge and he falls off - did I not commit a crime? She put a baby to bed at the foot of her bed while she was drunk enough to kill most people (0.2 two hours later means she was 0.4 when she WOKE UP from drinking. WTF? Most of us would be near death at 0.4). I would think at least some sort of involuntary manslaughter would come into play.

The mom is a drunk with poor judgement.

The dad, who KNEW the mom was a lush with poor judgement, and (per another article) told mom the night before this that he planned to leave her and take the baby with him, then left the baby in the mom's care......is a MORON with worse judgement than mom's.
