You really need a lawyer [Re: pa321]

at least for a consultation so that you learn what you are entitled to...then you'll know if you're accepting a fair proposal or not. Many lawyers give a free consultation...some will accept payments on a sliding scale...some will accept payments period. So, if he's successful in obtaining a good support amount for you, you'll have the income you need to pay for his services.

I called, I got free legal service for the abuse order, but cant get for this hearing.. its like 90.00 just for consult and I tried the free ones , I cant find any, and boyyy I sure looked..

thats what I am worried about a FAIR PROPOSAL... I just want
the allowable by law, the calculating formula they do..

I just dont want his lawyer trying to trick me in to something..

thank you melody for your response..

Although I am a paying client, as I was interviewing attorneys I met with each one of them for a consultation. They generally lasted between 1-1 1/2 hrs. They gathered the facts and I interviewed then on how they would handle the case. I did finally select one attorney, but was never charged for the initial meeting with any attorney.

If I were you, I would go for a consultation and after you have discussed your case and they tell you how they would proceed, explain your financial situation. If they don't want to take your case (and you might be surprised that they might take it and charge you a small monthly fee), that's their choice, but at least you would walk away with their advice on how to approach the stbx and his attorney.
