Filing first has no legal impact. The only legal benefit to filing first is that if the parties reside in two different counties, you may have your choice of forums.

From a non-legal perspective, preparing your case for divorce in advance and ethn filing first, may give you the advantage of being more prepared with the dissolution commences, both based on your acquired legal knowledge, acquisition of records, and financial preparedness to hire counsel.
