Overcoming Abuse/Living again

For any and all who might have advise. I haven't been with my son's father since he was 2 months old. We were only together for a total of 6 months and that was at 2 month intervals over a period of a year. He was extemely abusive emotionally, mentally, and physically. My son is now 7 and I finally have filed a restraining order and turned him in to child support enforcement to try and get my life back without living in fear at every turn. I won the restraining order in court and still haven't gotten enforcement of child support but it is coming. Now he has retaliated. Which I knew he would do. He has filed for custody, visitation, and child support modifications. I believe this to be another failing attempt to control as the dispostion of an abuser is to keep there victims in a state of fear and control at all times. I am trying each day to turn the negative to something useful and positive and it is very trying. Most of all I want to protect my son from all the hatered that seems to be pooring out of this man. Help... got any suggestions? They are greatly appreciated.
