First of all, I have a feeling that you both treat each other "badly"...HE does "this", so YOU do "that" and as you noted...it goes in cycles. Even though he may not want to counseling (at this time) with you does NOT mean that YOU can't go and it only takes one person to effect change. Maybe when he sees changes in your attitude, it will change his.

Those so-called "friendships" you lost were not much of a loss IMHO. People who truly are your friends will stay with you regardless of whether or not they agree with your choices (unless of course, you are choosing to do really bad things).

You BOTH need to learn what healthy relationships are all about. You BOTH need to understand that your marital relationship has changed. You've married for over 10 years, the children are all in school...dynamics change.

Second, as someone suggested, the grass is NOT greener on the other side.
