Thank you all for your posts. There is a big part of me that is asking why I am even having confusion about this. I told him that I need to know without a shadow of a doubt that the person that I am with will never ever lay a finger on me, NO MATTER WHAT. But I do love him. I guess part of me wishes it were different. That if it weren't for this things could be really great. But people do not change, as I am finding out. Did I mention we have only been back together for 2 weeks. This is really the huge red flag in my head, that all of this is happenening after 2 weeks. It proves to me that nothing is the same and no matter how much he thinks that being with me is the most important priority, apparently it isn't.
