property settlement

I'm from Missouri and left my husband iabout 4 months ago. He was verbally, emotionally, and mentally abusive. He slapped me twice and smacked me on the back of the head in public once. Here's my question; do I have a right to ask for half of the assets? I worked and have a good income and so does he. I took the crappy car because he claimed the nice truck we were paying on. I have only 1 witness to the physical abuse. no one is willing to testify for me in court but they said they will write statements and have them notorised for me to give to my lawyer. Do I have a leg to stand on? His daughters are going to court against me. I don't want to hurt anyone; I just want this over. But he says I left with just my mothers things and thats all I get. does anyone know anything about missouri divorces? Need answers asap please!!! :confused:
