hello all
Thank you in advance for taking the time to help with my post,we havelegal gaurdianship of our almost 6 year old grandson,we have had full custody since he was about 6 months old,at the time his mother was a stripper,no place to live, a new man every week, in fact, she has never been able to establish who the biological father is, she had 2 guy's tested but both were negative, she has been in and out of the state, has gone months with no visitation, has not provided any support of any kind ever.
well, now she has married, had another child, she did start visiting our grandson on a semi regular basis, and we allowed him to spend the night also, pretty much complied with her wishes 99% of the time.
well, now she has decided she wants him back, we feel very strongly that this would be devastating to our little boy, we are all he knows, and have been very involved with his growth, she has hired an attorney, but nothing filed yet
this all blew up one night when i was putting him to bed, she had told him that he should live with her, and was going to take him back, of course he doesnt understand any of this, and wanted me to tell her not to say these things,
since this incidence, at the advice of a child phychologist, we have not allowed her to see him, though we informed her if she would get counseling, ( even at our expense) we would allow visitation
so i guess i am looking for feedback on what our chances might be on winning at a contested adoption battle
sorry for the long post, so much to say
thanks so much
Kurt
