Okay...devils' advocate here...Saving things??? Isn't that what you have been doing for the past several months? Did it work? Did you feel content and happy doing what you had to do? Theres a trite saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks..." Maybe you can, maybe you can't. But from what you posted and I realize it was only 'your' side it seemed like a losing battle.

Sometimes when we are in it .....we can't see our way out...only you can know if you can save it...but people basically do not change...they do for awhile but maybe the hurdles you both had to overcome were insurmountable...it sure seemed like it.

As posted before, we are all for saving a marriage but sometimes you have to do what you need to do. The issues that both of you faced seemed very difficult and over time and more time spent in it with kids or pets..it may just get worse...although it could bet better.

I think its normal to not want to give up but at 80% you are almost done...if you find out later it was not the right thing and it was meant to be as was posted you could date post marriage.

But it did not seem you both had the same goals and values and approached things differently...over time more resentment could build up...

Its hard because we dont know you or your wife...but it must have been hard.

Good luck to you...Divorce is tough it really is and it may seem like a failure but do you really think you could live like you have for the rest of your life?
