If she want's out, she should get out, and accept the best settlement she can arrange. If she is young enough, educated, healthy enough, and capable of earning a decent living, it is highly doubtful that she would receive lifetime alimony, even after 10 years. She can't do anything about her age, nor can she "uneducate" herself, so may if she's lucky, she can contract a life-long, debilitating disease, so she can collect her life-long alimony.
