Does anyone out there have a word of advice for our situation? My husband is paying alimony to his wife of 12 years. They had no children together. She has one son by a previous marriage that has a handicap & can work a little. He is over twenty but still gets support from his real father plus everything the government pays . My husband is easy going & didn't fight her during the divorce which started out as a joint thing since they both felt it was over. However she turned all fury loose once it was started. She had experience with her first divorce & knew all the tricks. She never worked but stayed home to take care of her son so they say she has no work skills & a slight weakness in her left arm since birth. Therefore she is handicapped. My husband has an injury since he was in the navy & has a partial disability check from the navy , they also paid for his education to get a good paying job. He lived with this woman while he was in school & married right after graduation. He felt inferior after his leg was paralyzed & she took advantage of that. He is supposed to pay until she turns 65 in 7 more years. Already been paying for 15 years.
The problem now is that his injury has gotten a lot worse & he is having a hard time working & standing on his feet. He was in the hopital for all last week. I think he needs to stop working full time but he feels he can't afford another 30 thousand dollars for lawyers to see if he can get it changed. Does anyone know how expensive it might be to go back & get this changed or know anything about the law on this. She got the house & half of savings & 18 percent of his pay with 5 % raise every 4 years. She had the best lawyer....... [color:blue] [/color] I have been searching the internet but not much info on alimoney without child support.
