Does this seem fair and equitable?
---> If the two of you are in agreement and you're represented by counsel, then it is and it really doesn't matter what WE think.
---> But since you asked...I checked the historical figures for my state (an alimony state) and in comparison, the monthly amount being proposed is higher than what our courts would order (1000/36; 700/35; 500/indef), but it all works out in the wash...$388,800 vs $330,500 for the same period (til age 80).
---> Also, don't pay any attention to Susan; ufortunately, she's a few fries short of a Happy Meal. She has a tendency to make a lot of erroneous assumptions that have no basis in fact and has absolutely NO experience beyond her own limited view and because of that, is incapable of extrapolating. Example...you give income figures for the last three years and mention that you've split assets...Susan just ASSUMES that that encompasses your wife's entire work history, that it current earnings and that the split was 50/50.
and what should I look out for in the divorce decree???
---> Making sure that everything is spelled out so that there are no misunderstandings.
