I've stayed out of this until now, but I don't think that comment was called for. Everyone's divorce is different and some are harder than others...especially when there is an emotional event like a wedding right around the time of negotiations (which Karen was undergoing until a few weeks ago). Three years or three months...some people are socked with a quickie divorce or have one drag on. I haven't decided which is worse—one that is over and done with before you have a chance to get over the shock, or one that drags on because the spouse who wanted it to begin with starts making demands or reneging on their original agreement. (That one is really hard to understand—Why batter your spouse even more when you're the one who wants out of the marriage?)

Anyway, Karen is doing very well considering. At the three year point after my divorce, which kind of falls into the quickie category, I was still coming to grips with how I was supposed to live my life as a single Mom and hold down a job that could support my children and myself (ex almost immediately became a deadbeat). I had a loop playing over and over in my head of what I should have done, what I should have said, how I should have handled this or that situation. It was only in the 3-4 year period that it finally faded away.

When you have an ex or STBX who keeps doing things that change the path you think you're on (even after the divorce), I think you have grounds for venting. And really, that's all Karen is doing.
