I am a female retiree from the Navy. My ex husband, whom I was married to for six years, but separated for the last one, receives 14% of my retirement. He did NOT change jobs, did NOT work for the first two years of marriage, did NOT take care of our two children that arrived during the first two years of marriage. He spent all the money, did what HE wanted, was physically and verbally abusive, and had numerous affairs. Yet, I lose my retirement to him? This stupid law needs to change. I believe some cases it is warranted to give the ex some of the retirement, but not a blanket rule. Should be case by case at least. What do you think? For the most part, from what I have seen, the ex spouse gets retirement for bad behavior on their parts, which is so unfair in the big picture......
