Here at Ft Bliss, I have known many soldiers who ask their wives to do the same thing and the reasoning behind this is until they are divorced, the woman are allowed to remain in housing (of course the soldier is not finacially obligated to give them any more money), so they would rather you move out of housing so that they can collect the BAH and only give you a portion that the regulations state they have to give you. When I was divorcing (we did not live in housing) our BAH was $959- and per AR-608-99, I was only authorized 2/3 of BAH II DIFF, which came out to $462.00 a month. Eventually you will have to move out of housing and you will have to decide whether you want to move back home or make where you are now your new home.
