If most couples decide to give their time and energy to the kids for the first few years, then why is it that the majority of families in this country have both parents working? SAHP's are by far and away a distinct minority, because the financial realities of today do not allow most couples to have one stay home. That doesn't make them bad parents, that doesn't mean the kids will end up screwed up, it lends to the reality of the situation that exists today.
Are you telling me that it's not possible to have both going to school pt on top of working FT? If each parent does 3 credit hrs per semester, or 9 a year for an advanced degree, and their classes are not on the same night, that somehow is going to lend to the downfall of the child? Thus when parent A is watching the child say on Monday, while parent B is in class, and Parent B is watching the child on Wed while Parent A is in class, that the whole family structure is going to collapse? Both parents have to be present 100% of the time post work? There can be no staggering on both parents part? Come on. It's all about learning to be flexible and scheduling.
