I recently retired after 20. I have seen many, many cases of the young airmen getting the big D. Very sad. It is hard to be married to military. You are young, away from home for the first time, and your spouse has military commitments out the wazoo. I rarely saw the military help the spouse get home.

So, unless this USCG spouse is one of the exceptions to the norm..........
