Hi. My name is D. My husband and I dated for 9 years and only married for 9 months. Sad, I know!! We met in college and moved here to Florida in 1997. Married in Aug. '03 and separated in June '04. We have lived apart ever since.

We remain good friends. until it comes to financial obligations! We were both doing well in our careers for awhile but things got rough health wise for me. I lost my job and he helped keep me afloat. Not without a fight though!! Its been a few years and he has yet to file for a divorce, BUT...He has cut me off from everything he could.

He took me off of his health insurance plan, opened a new checking acct for his payroll and hasn't helped me with anything for over a month. Says he has helped me more than he is legally required to. Says he spoke to an attorney and he doesn’t owe me anything. On the other hand. I cashed in my 401k to buy our home, cashed in all my stock options from a very reputable bank I worked with for 12 years and he feels like he owes me nothing??
He's ready to move on in life and I can respect that, but at the same time. I’m legally binded to him so if anything ever happened to him, I'd be responsible for his care, and vs. versa, yet he thinks just because we're separated we have no obligations to one another.

Long Story Short.:) I am between jobs and destitute. He is refusing to help me. Thankfully there are no children involved and I cant bear to stoop to gov't assistance. Is there anything I can do? Do I have any recourse? I am educated, responsible and applying for jobs I'm over qualified for. Not to sound pretentious, but nothing is going my way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
