Well, there's simply no point arguing anymore. Everything I've written about how to proceed is the culmination of advice from my attorney, six doctors, a psychiatrist, and a state caseworker.

It is my attorney -- a specialist in divorce law, who is advising me on what motions to file, and when. He is the one researching the case laws, and has experience in handling similar cases in the past. It is he that has told me of recent MO appellate decisions that direct that the emotional abuse of a child be a factor for custody, that moving a child out of state without court permission is a serious offense, that the law directs the judges to order the other party's reasonable attorney and court costs (the law says "shall",) and that an appellate decision just in the last few months states that alcohol/drug use must be recent; in that case, the father's drug use had been 1 year and 5 months earlier, and the appeals court said that wasn't recent enough. It is my attorney who tells me that detailed depositions from my doctors, along with the volumes of medical documentation I have, are sufficient for the court to order maintenance. He has done this successfully in the past many times, and claims that my case is a virtual certainty (the only questions being how much and for how long.) It is also my attorney who is advising me to assert the parental rights that my wife is denying me, and it is he (along with my doctor, psychiatrist, and DFS caseworker) who is urging a state investigation into the emotional abuse issue. The last three specifically called it both adult and child abuse.

It is my attorney and the mental health specialists who claim that my voluntary commitment after my suicide attempt improves my chances of custody and visitation issues. It is my doctors, over the last 30 years of various disabilities, who direct my medical treatment, and NONE of them -- or the counselors at six treatment periods -- agree with you that my current legitimate use of prescribed drugs is either an active drug addiction, or drug abuse. The only problem I experienced when I was removed from oxy-contin was increased pain; no withdrawals. It is my doctors who are telling me that I will be on these medications for life, and that no other alternatives have been successful or are available.

I've shelled out nearly $100,000 of borrowed money over 30 years to pay these professionals for their advice. I*'ve had over a million dollars of health care since zI was born, with major birth defects. Fortunately most of that came from the military, since I was a dependent and then active military for 12 years. They know me inside and out. I will go with their opinions -- if I can't trust their advice, then what is the sense in going to them in the first place?

Of course I'm depressed. Who wouldn't, given my past and what is happening now? I am trying to deal with it the best that I can, and have actually improved in the last few days.

This also will be my last post. My attorney says that all it is doing is confusing me, with a lot of advice conflicting with that of the professionals I am currently involved with.
