Husband moving away without kids

Me and wife are separating, and I simply cannot stand the State of California anymore. Though I want to be accessible and ready to meet my 2 kids needs (6yo and 10mo), I am really wanting to move out of State, to like Colorado or Texas. I can fly once a month (At least at the beginning) and spend a weekend with them.
So: 1- Are there any laws that keep me from moving? (Separation is agreeable by both parties, and no contest) divorce would be the same way. If I took my kids it would be different, but they'd continue to live with their mom.
2- If there are no laws keeping me in this state, I assume for Divorce paperwork issues I would want to stay here until finalized, in order to attend hearings and such?...
