From antimisandry
"Several times throughout my life I have seriously contemplated the idea of ending my existence. The first time was when I had to watch my mother die of cancer for two years. In the middle of it, the pain of watching someone you love rot from the inside out, and how debilitating, painful, and horrible the process is almost drove me to insanity and death. I had my children at the time so I kept myself together and came through it alright.
The second time was when my children were ripped away from me, I was forced to pay CS which then forced me out of my home (couldn't afford rent) my car got repoed (couldn't afford payment) and was unemployed (couldn't make it to work without a car now can I?) It was my rock bottom. I remember sitting outside on a bench with a bottle of Wild Turkey (almost empty) and thinking about how the gun would feel when I put it in my mouth. I wondered what death would taste like. I obviously didn't do it but it was at that point when I realized that SOMETHING has to be done for people like me. I consider myself a good man, not necessarily a perfect one, but the point of it was that I TRIED to be a solid citizen, and society threw me away. I realized at that point exactly how hypocritical this system really is. I wasn't necessary, nor was I even wanted. I decided to live at that point, at least to spite them of that final solution to the loose end that was me.
That was when I started to stand up."
