In School Detension? Your opinions

Ok..my 9 year old daughter had to just serve a 60 minute in school detension. She received this for arguing with the teacher. I completely agree with having her serve the detension but my question is...what should they be doing for 60 minutes? Reading? Doing homework? Writing 100 time, "I wont argue with the teacher"..etc?
This is her first (and hopefully ONLY) time getting into trouble of any kind like this. She's a great kid but appreantly likes to debate her opinion a little.
When I picked her up today, she was in tears and stated she thought she was going to vomit. Figuring she was just emotional over the entire ordeal I asked her what happened.
She told me they are not allowed to move AT ALL for the entire hour. They have to sit in a chair, facing forwards, no slouching, no moving their heads, no bathroom breaks, etc. For the entire hour.
What are your thoughts on this?
