Oh I completely set her straight. Once again..I have NOOOOO problem with the fact that she got detention. I'm all for it...she deserved it after being told not to talk. I can understand her need to ask 'Why' when it seems like others were allowed to get up and talk but we have talked about how it's still a form of talking back.
What I have a problem with is the 60 minutes of absolutely sitting still. What does that actually teach them? Not much, in my opinion. I feel 20 -30 minutes of sitting still reflecting on their mistake is appropriate for a 9 year old and then something else for the remainder of the time (reading, homework, writting an apology, etc).
