I don't disagree with your statistics. However, I don't believe education has anything to do with the ability to understand that a marriage can end in a divorce and that there are ramifications to such a process. With the prevalence of divorce, it is difficult to imagine anyone who has not, in some fashion, become aware of the divorce process or how contentious it may be.

I do like the idea of some short educational class that should accompany a marriage license.

I agree. I think professed ignorance is a cop out and a convenient excuse.
